  Following up to S Viemeister &lt;br&gt; yes, I knew that, but couldnt remember the names at the time. Mind you, &lt;br&gt; *anybody* would have to pass Ben Nevis to get there, if you take the &lt;br&gt; chattering classes view that everybody lives in London (or at least in &lt;br&gt; London and a few other city centres).

  Why &lt;br&gt; There are long stretches with palaces fronting the canal. &lt;br&gt; But Venice overall is the best city in Europe for walking around. You &lt;br&gt; cannot get too long, because you&#39;re on an island(s). So there are lots &lt;br&gt; of other places to walk. Walking Venice at night is especially cool.
